LG's Crystal - World's First Transparent Phone

Yet another phone released by LG Electronics (LG) - LG-GD900 Crystal, the world's first transparent phone.

The touchscreen slider phone sports a 3 - inch 16 M color TFT screen and features an 8 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and D1 video recording at 30 fps, QVGA time-lapse and slow-mo video recording.

Crystal has 1.5GB of internal memory, GPRS EDGE class 12 and Wi-Fi for connectivity. It measures 105 x 52.5 x 13.5 mm, and weighs 127 g.
Explaining the touchpad, the company says that the phone's slide-down Crystal Touchpad first appears to just be an alphanumeric keypad, but it actually doubles as a touchpad for controlling the phone.

Further, it can be used like the trackpad on a laptop computer. It also recognizes handwriting, responds to multi-touch commands and enables a new way of navigation called Gesture Command, another first from the company.

Slid open, the Crystal Touchpad is completely transparent and illuminated with a soft glow. LG says that it is made of highly durable tempered glass and is framed and reinforced by a band of Liquidmetal, a composite alloy that is ultra-strong and able to absorb shock and vibration.

For multitasking, there's a multitasking button and draw one of 12 easy symbols on the keypad. Users can assign these symbols to any of the phone's nine multitasking-enabled features.

The LG-GD900 Crystal will be available in Chrome and Titan color choices.

It is expected to hit shelves in June in select countries in Asia and Europe and will then debut in other countries across the globe. As soon as the India prices and availability are announced, you'll know it first on Online Guide.
