Till a couple of years ago, google didn't show ads on Orkut but I guess seeing the popularity of the social networking website, they have made a decision to earn some revenue by placing ads.

Personally, I hate the ads that appear in Orkut. They just hamper the whole Orkutting Experience.

But no worries for me though, as I use the Adblock Plus Addon in Firefox which blocks all ads.. ;)
